South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has received its first orders for 2010.

DSME President, Nam Sang-tae, met with the Chairman of the Angelicoussis Shipping Group, John Angelicoussis, in Thessaloniki, northern Greece on January 9 to sign contracts to build two large oil takers and two bulk carriers. DSME said the contract brings its total in new orders for the year to $750 million.

Angelicoussis is Greece’s largest shipowner. The company has previously built vessels at DSME. The new orders are for same-type ships as those previously ordered.

John Angellicoussis is profiled and listed in our ‘Greece’s Tonne Millionaires’ article in World Greek Rich List edition.
